For all our gardeners in the Havenwood Community Garden, this Saturday from 1-4 pm, there will be a planting party of the potatoes and squashes. I have weeded out the beds, but they still need a good raking to ready them for planting. Bring water as it is forecast to be a lovely sunny hot day, and a hat. We are holding it on Saturday as Sunday (our normal party days) is Mothers Day.
Also, please bring cash to cover the costs of your plot: $10 for a small plot, $20 for a large plot. These monies cover the costs of the potatoes and seeds for the community plots, as well as repairs to equipment for the garden (wheelbarrows, water lines, etc). Also, the monies covers the cost of water for the year. Please pay Michele Hebert (exact change only please in bills).
Just a reminder that if you are in the garden to water your plot, give a sprinkle to the community plots (potatoes and squashes) and to your nearby neighbours’ plots as well, please. It only takes a few extra minutes. The upcoming Summer season is predicted to be very hot and dry, and our Community gardens will need all the help they can get.
